General Folding Techniques

A lot of the craft activities on this website are based on general folding techniques. Master these basics and you'll be able to create most of the crafts as described in the various themes and topics!


16 Squares folding

Step 1

Start with a square piece of paper and fold it

Step 2

Turn the paper a quarter turn and fold it again

       
Step 3

This leaves you with 4 squares

Step 4

Fold one side towards the middle

       
Step 5

Turn the paper a half turn and again fold one side towards the middle

Step 6

Turn it another quarter turn, and fold one side towards the center.

       
Step 7

One more half turn and fold one side towards the middle again

 

Step 8

Done! You've just folded 16 squares


Kite Folding

Step 1

Fold the piece of paper diagonally

Step 2

Fold the paper back open again

       
Step 3

Take one pointed edge and fold this towards the middle diagonal line as shown in the photo

Step 4

Do the same thing with the other side

       
Step 5

Make sure you fold it correctly, use your nails to create sharp edges.

Look at that, your kite is ready!

Diagonal Cross folding

Step 1

Fold the piece of paper diagonally

 

Step 2

Fold the paper back open again, and fold it diagonally from the opposite site

       
Step 3

Unfold the paper and your diagonal cross is ready
