Number crafts

Equal, more and less

Materials needed :

• A3 paper
• glue
• circles, squares and triangle stickers,or paper to cut out shapes

Let's get to work:

1. Fold the A3 paper so you'll get 16 rectangles.
2. Write the numbers in rows from top to bottom.
3. In the first row the children have to count "equal numbers"
4. In the second row they have to "count one more"
5. In the third row they have to "count one less"

Punch out the number

Materials needed :

• A3 paper
• glue
• circles, squares and triangle stickers, or paper to cut out shapes
• numbersheet (enlarged by copier)
• paint
• paintbrushes
• prick pen

Let's get to work:

1. Enlarge one of the numbers or all the numbers and hand them out to the children.
2. They'll use a prick pen to punch out the numbers.
3. Use the stencil of the number with paint to apply it on a piece of A3 paper.
4. Use the number of colours the number suggests.
5. The piece the children have punched out will be used as well. They can decorate it with stickers. Use the same number of stickers again.
6. Make a book of the number they punched out.

One to ten

Materials needed :

• A3 paper (2)
• glue
• circles, squares and triangle stickers, or paper to cut out shapes
• numbersheet
• paint
• paintbrushes
• prick pen

Let's get to work:

1. Copy the numbersheet on thick paper and hand it out to the children.
2. Let them punch out all the numbers with a prick pen.
3. Save the numbers that are punched out for later use.
4. Use paint on the stencil to make all the numbers at the top of the page.
5. Let the children make rows from top to bottom to indicate the amount.
6. As a bonus you can let them write the numbers in the squares.

Caterpillar numbered

Materials needed :

• worksheet caterpillar
• glue
• circle stickers or paper to cut out circles
• numbersheet

Let's get to work:

1. Copy the worksheet of the caterpillar.
2. The children make the caterpillar as long as the number suggests.
3. To finish the project they draw legs, eyes, antennas, and a mouth.

Jigsaw puzzle numbers

Materials needed :

• Worksheet jigsaw puzzle (see below)
• glue
• A4 paper
• scissors

Let's get to work:

1. Copy the jigsaw worksheets.
2. Let the children cut out the number. Pay attention the difficulty level and adjust to the child's level.
3. After they've cut out the number, let them make the puzzle first before they glue it on the paper.
4. To make a puzzle more difficult you can give a child two numbers at the same time.
